Re-Imagining Health IT- A Model for IT Infrastructure Adoption Measurement

HIMSS Analytics

Change within the healthcare IT environment is constant, with new technologies that aren’t only impacting providers, but patients as well. The notion of always being connected is ever-present in the healthcare environment, putting pressure on the system as a whole to keep their technology infrastructure up to date. Adoption of technological innovations is key for providers to give the best and most advanced care, but without a robust IT infrastructure at their site, these innovations cannot be implemented or adopted, and thus patient care improvements can be stalled.

The HIMSS Analytics Infrastructure Adoption Model (INFRAM) is an international eight stage (0-7) model for technology infrastructure adoption and maturity. INFRAM services are designed to assist healthcare organizations in assessing and advancing capabilities and technology implementations as related to the organization's infrastructure.

By utilizing INFRAM, healthcare providers can improve care delivery, reduce cyber and infrastructure risk, and create a pathway for infrastructure development tied to business and clinical outcomes. The model identifies specific benchmarks to reach before going live with any new or advanced technologies, ensuring that the IT infrastructure is prepared for such changes. In addition to the evaluation of the site’s current infrastructure state, the INFRAM offers healthcare providers a roadmap to infrastructure maturity that will guide them through their improvement process.

On Monday, May 13, 2019, HIMSS Analytics hosted a live webinar to discuss the INFRAM assessment more in depth. During this session, attendees heard from Certified Consultants, Cisco and VertitechIT, as well as executives from Markham Stouffville Hospital and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Watch now to learn more about the measurable impact that INFRAM can have on your organization.
